how to expand the academic portfolio in alternative energies with the current resources?
C H A L L E N G E
Our client was looking to expand its academic portfolio and services related to alternative energies using current resources, facing limitations in physical space, technologies, knowledge and budget. This portfolio expansion aimed to strengthen the university's academic offerings, research and outreach in the field of alternative energies, adapting to the current market and current regulations.

We conducted a comprehensive analysis to understand the reality of the current academic offer in renewable and alternative energies. This process included the evaluation of the existing academic offer and related infrastructure, students, identifying available resources and constraints. In addition, we defined the goals and objectives for the new academic offer, such as priority research areas, academic objectives and their contribution to sustainable development.
We redesigned the academic offerings in alternative energies, focusing specifically on bioenergies. This involved understanding the needs and opportunities of the industry, the market and the resources available at the university. There is a need to improve organic waste management in the area. As a result, we defined the technologies, scale, lines of research and services for the industry through a new academic offering. We identified customer expectations to ensure that the proposed product met their needs.
We collaborated closely with the client to develop pre-feasibility studies for the bioenergy laboratory, creating the guidelines and steps to establish the space and education methodology under a “learning-by-doing” approach.
R E S U L T S
We developed and implemented a business model for organic waste management, managing 20,000 tons per year. This initiative contributed to the reduction of 21,500 tons of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gases (GHG), demonstrating a significant impact on environmental sustainability.
